Swim Safe: A Water Safety Project For The Gulf of Eden

Region represented in the case: Arabian Peninsula

Losing a loved one to the sea and knowing that his country has one of the highest drowning death rates in the Arabian Peninsula left Adam, a manager for the “Swim Safe” project, thirsty for change. So far, the Ministry of Sports, where the project is located, is focused on competitive performance to represent the country in different tournaments. Adam, however, wants the sport of swimming to be a source of safety and happiness to the entire population of his country. Therefore, he started to explore the possible organizational changes that could be implemented in the Ministry of Sports to increase swimming safety awareness and target the entire population. On the base of organizational analysis through the frames of organizational change, the case provides recommendations to introduce the Swim Safe project to the “right” people and enhance collaboration. The case equips Adam with a step-by-step action plan and recommendations on how he can strengthen his influence by acquiring different influence tactics that are key in facilitating the entire process.

Waldec Jorge Oncologia Clínica

Country represented in the case: Brazil

 The case represents a consulting project that was provided to Dr. Filho, the owner and doctor of the private clinic for cancer patients WJOC in Sao Paulo City, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Filho and Ms. David had run the clinic smoothly for years; they did not have a large amount of patients and shared responsibilities easily.  However, after Ms. David left and the number of cancer patients who need support for antineoplastic chemotherapy rapidly increased, Dr. Filho was struggling in practicing medicine and solving administrative problems at WJOC. The business was jeopardized.   While he was aware that hiring a manager was an obvious way to go, Dr. Filho was concerned that such a change could break the harmony and strong culture that all employees had already developed.  The case provides specific recommendations on how Dr. Filho can lead his organization through transformation and save high quality of provided service to cancer patients.

College Of Professional Studies Graduate Students and the Graduate Student Government

Country represented in the case: United States

The case refers to the fact that Northeastern University is an institution that currently comprises of 9 colleges and schools that each holds undergraduate and graduate programs. Of all the schools, the College of Professional Studies (CPS) is also the only college whose students do not pay the student activity fee and is therefore not recognized by the Constitution of Graduate Student Government (GSG). The case refers to opinions of the case respondents that such a structure takes away a range of opportunities that could be beneficial to the sense of community and the academic growth that every graduate students (national and international alike) ought to experience. The case investigates several options of how CPS can be integrated into the larger Northeastern graduate community to provide CPS students with opportunity to express their opinion through voting and involvement. The case discusses how and who determines the type of governance students in CPS should and can have, and it suggest the way to market the long-term advantages that will warrant a student activity fee attractive for students of CPS.

Arsenal FC Case Study

Country represented in the case: England

The temporal scope of the case study for the English football club Arsenal FC ranges from 1996 to present, considering that Arsene Wenger became the coach of Arsenal in 1996. Arsenal has met with some problems in the last 10 years, thus changes need to be made. Both primary and secondary sources are used in the essay. Secondary sources come from scholarly articles, newspaper and reliable websites, while the primary source is an interview of Mr. Wang, a tactical analyst of English football who is working for a sport magazine. The case demonstrates how the study in organizational transformation can help in analysis on how Arsene Wenger could implement a change in Arsenal.

Transformation of the Front Office: Guest Satisfaction

Country represented in the case: United States

The case intends to help Emily, a newly hired Director of Front Office at the Omni House Hotel, in managing organizational changes that should be implemented to improve guest satisfaction. The case refers to the data that guest satisfaction has always been of important value to Omni Hotels and Resorts, but the latest report demonstrated that the level of guest satisfaction decreased. Emily identified that some of the Front Desk employees were not adhering to corporate standards which contributed to the dilemma and also were questioning her qualifications and abilities as a leader to lead the entire team. The problem must be solved urgently, which would possibly lead to job changes and terminations in the Front Office. The Front Office team has yet to notice the importance and seriousness of the change. The case analyzes the situation through the frames of organizational transformation and provides specific recommendations of what Emily can do to improve the situation.
